At Snipes Farm Day Camp, children and youth ages 5-15 unplug from tech and plug into the beauty and adventure of nature and life on a farm with friends. Campers have 80 acres of woods, creeks and gardens to explore. They find salamanders under a log in the woods, crayfish in the creek, and head to the orchard to pick blackberries. Campers harvest fresh ingredients for two fresh homemade snacks a day and for their weekly cooking class. There’s leaf printing, tie dye, weaving with natural materials and times to “drop everything and draw” with art kits. Favorite games like GaGa, Capture the Flag and Doctor Ball include friendly competition and cooperation. After 17 years, our big repertoire of camp songs adds cheer all day long!

Our days begin and end together with all-camp circles in the shade of towering oak and beech trees. Everyone lends a hand during Community Care times caring for barn yard animals and a veggie garden, helping with a farm project, or keeping camp tidy and clean. Cooking, games, nature lessons, archery, science and art projects happen in the mornings. In the afternoons we head to the creek, cool off in sprinklers, build forts, do crafts and play camper choice games. We look forward to the visits of special guests who bring programs from nature centers, the Trenton Circus Squad, Bucks County 4-H or interactive dance or music performances. The joy of learning grows curiosity and confidence and campers stretch, and gain new skills. The best part of camp is making new friends and having the support and guidance of a fun and caring staff.

The Camp Leadership Program (CLP) for youth ages 13-15 strikes a good balance between camp activities, leadership development and service. Besides cooking classes CLPs help to prepare and serve healthy snacks for camp once or twice a week. They do arts and crafts and archery. Team building develops problem solving skills, an appreciation of each person’s strengths and includes challenge and fun. They help with camp service projects and help younger campers during Community Care times. CLPs do summer bird counts and learning about sustainable land and farming through Citizen Science projects. CLPS head off for field trip adventures every Thursday in the region that includes state and county parks, specialty local farms, kayaking, or heading to a rock gym.
